Honors Hall

The snow storm forced some Bennett Belles to take a different route home. Bennett College closed off the Honors Hall front steps during the morning hours because of the ice and snow. The steps were roped off for the safety of the students. Students were advised to take the entrance facing the Global Learning Center.

Andrena Coleman, Vice President for Administrative Services sent out an email about how the weather had impacted the campus.

“The walkway between Shell and Pfeiffer Science and also between Black Hall and Merner Hall would be cleared so that students could have access to the Student Union.”

Bennett College maintenance workers started to plow snow on campus to clear out walkways in front of the student union and dorms. The driveways in front of public safety and the cafeteria doors were also being shoveled.

The Honors Hall steps had not been cleared by 5 pm, which frustrated Damisha Fraser, a work-study student in Race Hall.

“After work I just decided to take the front steps instead of walking around. It was so much snow out there that ice started to form. I was shocked and frustrated that it had not been plowed yet, it was dangerous out there.”

The snowstorm canceled afternoon classes on January 28 and canceled morning classes the following day.
